*西曆與農曆 Western Calendar and Chinese Lunar Calendar
A special Chinese calendar is used for determining festivals. So you may find that the day of some Chinese festivals
are different from year to year. For example, the New Year Day of the Western calendar is 1st January every year.
However, the day of the Chinese New Year follows the Chinese Lunar calendar. It is because the counting of the Chinese
Lunar calendar is according to the cycles of the moon. The day of the Chinese New Year usually falls between January
and February.
Another example is the Mid – Autumn festival, the day of the Mid – Autumn festival is 15th August of the Chinese calendar. However, the date of the Mid – Autumn festival may fall between the middle of September and early October.
There are twelve animals to represent different years in Chinese. It is believed that each animal has its own character and fortune, just like the Western horoscope. The following table shows the twelve animals to you.
